Monday's D3 Daily Action: Save Alaska's Wildlife!
This bill promotes inhumane, unsustainable, and unsporting practices to kill wildlife by overturning a federal rule that was created to stop some of the most horrific hunting practices imaginable, including killing wolf and coyote pups in their dens, killing hibernating mother bears and cubs, using airplanes to scout grizzly bears for trophy hunters to shoot on land, and trapping grizzly and black bears with steel-jawed leg hold traps and snares. This egregious program clearly violates the wildlife diversity conservation mandates for the National Wildlife Refuge System, and contradicts both the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act and the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act.
This Resolution is endorsed by the NRA, Safari Club International and other trophy hunting lobbyists, because it will allow big game hunters to kill the majestic animals of Alaska’s National Wildlife Refuges—publicly owned land paid for at taxpayer expense.
It should be noted that Representative Scott Tipton voted for this bill in the House so you could also give him a call to let him know what you think about that!
